Valerie Cox was born in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, and now resides in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  After earning her B.A. in Communication Studies from the University of Iowa in 1988, Valerie was a paralegal for thirteen (13) years, specializing in bankruptcy and real estate law.  She subsequently graduated from the University of Utah Law School in Salt Lake City, Utah in 2000 with a Juris Doctor degree and became licensed in the State of Colorado in 2001.  

Valerie reviewed commercial leases for a telecom company for one (1) year and then became a Lease Administrator, and later a Manager of Real Estate Administration, for a major equipment rental business for four (4) years.  During her tenure in the lease administration field, Valerie expanded her area of expertise to include real estate process design and implementation, including document control, auditing tools, streamlined reporting, and workflow management that broke new ground in the real estate management industry by teaming up with Hermann Strijewski, an experienced, talented and innovative programmer.
